Sample Messages to Human Rights Organizations

The message you send can be very short and simple, such as, "Hello. My name is xxxxx. I am greatly disturbed to find out that your organization supports [or, ignores] the killing of millions of innocent preborn human beings. Abortion is the worst human rights tragedy on earth today, and if we are going to call ourselves human rights activists, we need to stand up for the human rights of all people, no matter how young. I ask you to take a stand for the human rights of those still living in their mothers' wombs." "Short and sweet" is good, but I am also supplying some sample messages below that you might find helpful or inspiring.

The first two sample messages below are ones that I actually sent out to a couple of organizations. You will not be able to use these messages verbatim, whereas they reference "my website" and have other wording that you would need to change to fit the organization or your own focus. You may find the more "generic" or shorter messages toward the bottom to be more useful. Either way, I hope you will feel free to use them to inspire you, but will write your own messages similar to these or as different as you wish to make them. I would only ask that you focus on the plight of those being killed, and not bring in other issues, matters of religion or ideology, etc. Use the language of human rights. Also note that these messages are addressed to an audience here in the United States. If you are writing to any of the organizations outside of the U.S. you will need to change the U.S.-centric wording.

SAMPLE MESSAGE WRITTEN TO ORGANIZATION THAT TAKES NO POSITION ON ABORTION:

Dear Fellow Human Rights Advocates:

As we approach International Human Rights Day, I am greatly concerned about the status of human rights in the world today. There is a great deal of unnecessary suffering in our world, from the violence of unnecessary wars to the oppression of peoples by their own governments. I have noted your organization’s many efforts at upholding peace and human rights, including your work during the Vietnam War, addressing the violence in Latin America (that our government often promotes), and dealing with the threat of nuclear weapons which can, of course, destroy our world in essentially a moment of time. I particularly appreciate your peace efforts during the Iraq war, an (in my opinion) unconscionable war of aggression carried out by our country, and that seems to have only fueled more violence and anti-American sentiment. Thank you for your work on these and other issues.

However, there is one issue that is far and away the worst human rights catastrophe on the earth today – the killing of tens of millions of preborn human beings each year around the world – over one million right here in the United States. These innocent humans are ripped to pieces and their bodies discarded like garbage with no concern for their rights. All the wars and conflicts on earth combined do not come close to killing as many people as are killed by abortion each year. If you are not already familiar with this catastrophe, please open your favorite Internet search engine and do a search for "abortion pictures" and let your heart respond with compassion when you see what is actually taking place in our society. For a less graphic view of what is happening, I urge you to take a look at my web page at www.abortionreason.com/fetaldevabortions.pdf for a quick summary of what is taking place right here in the United States.

I am amazed, however, that I can find nothing on your organization’s website that indicates that you care about or advocate on behalf of those being tortured and killed by abortion! (I did, however, note that you work with Amnesty International – an organization that actually promotes such violence!) I am not sure how to respond to this. I would hope that any organization that claims to support human rights would abhor such violence and killing. How can you possibly ignore it? This does not lend credence to the idea that your organization actually cares about human rights. How can you say that you care about people’s human rights when you ignore such brutality?

We will not have peace and protection of human rights on earth until we respect human rights for all people. Let’s open our eyes to what is really happening and open our hearts to the victims of this tragedy. Please let me know whether you share my concern about this violence and are willing to advocate on behalf of all people, no matter how young, and take a genuine stand for human rights for all.

SAMPLE MESSAGE WRITTEN TO ORGANIZATION THAT SUPPORTS ABORTION:

Dear Fellow Human Rights Advocates:

As we approach International Human Rights Day, I am greatly concerned about the status of human rights in the world today. There is a great deal of unnecessary suffering in our world, from the violence of unnecessary wars to the oppression of peoples by their own governments. I have noted your organization’s Choose Compassionate Consumption program. This is an important area of work. When we buy products that are produced by workers in unsafe conditions or in a manner that destroys the environment, we are supporting such abuses. This is an issue over which we all need to become better educated so that we can make better choices. Thank you for your work in this area.

However, there is one issue that is far and away the worst human rights catastrophe on the earth today – the killing of tens of millions of preborn human beings each year around the world – over one million right here in the United States. I have noted, with amazement, however, that your organization not only does not advocate on behalf of those being tortured and killed, but actually supports such terror! I am not sure how to respond to this. I would hope that any organization that claims to support human rights would abhor such violence and killing. How can you possibly support it? This does not lend credence to the idea that your organization actually cares about human rights. How can you say that you care about people’s human rights when you support such brutality?

"GENERIC" MESSAGE:

If you do not wish to check out each organization and craft a message specifically for each one, here is a sample message similar to those above, but written "generically" so that it could be sent to any of these organizations:

Dear Fellow Human Rights Advocates:

Having recently celebrated International Human Rights Day, I am greatly concerned about the status of human rights in the world today. There is a great deal of unnecessary suffering in our world, from the violence of unnecessary wars to the oppression of peoples by their own governments. The issues are many that need to be addressed. However, there is one issue that is far and away the worst human rights catastrophe on the earth today – the killing of tens of millions of preborn human beings each year around the world – over one million right here in the United States. These innocent humans are ripped to pieces and their bodies discarded like garbage with no concern for their rights. I am amazed, however, that your organization does not seem to advocate on behalf of those being tortured and killed by abortion! I am not sure how to respond to this. I would hope that any organization that claims to support human rights would abhor such violence and killing. How can you possibly turn a blind eye to this? This does not lend credence to the idea that your organization actually cares about human rights.

SHORTER MESSAGES:

The previous messages were a bit long, which I consider okay, since I sent them and I am the one who started this campaign. It might be better for people generally to send shorter messages that the recipients are more likely to take the time to read. Here are sample shorter messages for your consideration:

For pro-abortion organizations

Dear Fellow Human Rights Activists:

I am greatly concerned about the state of human rights on our planet. I am grateful for your organization's emphasis on ___________________, but I am particularly concerned with one issue that claims the lives of more innocent victims than any other - the killing of little children simply by virtue of the fact that they still live within their mothers' bodies. Abortion claims the lives of tens of millions of innocent children worldwide every year - far more than are killed in all the wars, battles or military actions on the planet. Please visit www.abortionreason.com/fetaldevabortions.pdf for a quick summary of what is taking place right here in the United States.

I am amazed, however, that your organization's website actually promotes this killing! Killing human beings at any stage of life is a horrible violation of human rights. I implore your organization to reconsider its violent stance on this issue and take a stand in favor of human rights for all people, no matter how young. Please let me know if you will take a stand on behalf of those being killed by abortion.

For organizations that take no stand on abortion:

Dear Fellow Human Rights Activists:

I am greatly concerned about the state of human rights on our planet. NOTE: If you do not wish to take the time to visit the organization's websites to find out what they focus on, you can replace the phrase about the organization's emphasis with, "There are many human rights issues that demand our attention, but..."

FOLLOW-UP MESSAGE:

To follow up with those organizations that did not respond to my first message, I resent the same message again with the following inserted at the top:

I sent you the following email recently, but did not receive a response. Since I sent it out we have all been shocked and saddened by the killing of 20 elementary school children in Connecticut. At the same time there is little mention of the 3000 children killed that day and every day across our country in abortion facilities. We need to put an end to this killing. Once again, please let me know whether you will join me to stand for the basic human rights of our youngest people.
