Campaign: Human Rights for All Ages

This is the problem!

The following story illustrates perfectly the problem we face. The writer pits two groups against each other. Read the following quote in the article: "...misinformation spread by anti-choice and conservative CSOs ... created a challenging context for the rights-based groups who attended" the meeting of the Commission on Population and Development.

You can read the full story here.

Never mind that, like all pro-abortion writers and groups, he insists on calling us "anti-choice" and "conservative". These terms, besides being inaccurate, are intended to bias the audience against us so that they forget the facts and see us as "bad" people. ("If you cannot answer a man's argument, all it not lost; you can still call him vile names." -- Elbert Hubbard) But pro-abortionists have always done that and they aren't about to stop now and start having fair discussions. We know that. But that's okay, because it isn't the problem here.

The problem is that, however he wishes to refer to us, he is pitting us against "rights-based groups". Do you get it? He is affirming that dichotomy that has been repeated and affirmed and engrained in peoples' consciousnesses for decades now - that "rights-based" groups are one thing, and the "right to lifers" are something quite different. That is what is killing us! It's not pro-abortionists' use of bias and avoidance of the facts. Its that they have succeeded in convincing people that they are the "rights-based" folks, and we are something altogether different, the opposite, not rights-based. This is what we need to contest. This is what we need to bring to people's awareness. It is WE who are the ones who are "rights-based" - it is WE who are standing up for the rights of ALL people.

Shout it! Proclaim it! Never allow anyone to assert this dichotomy unchallenged that human rights groups are one thing and we are something else! We have to stand up and make it known loud and clear that it is those who stand up for the rights of all people, including those in the womb, who can claim to be "rights-based". Those who support killing little children are not - I repeat, they are NOT, they are NOT, they are NOT - "rights-based". They are NOT "human rights" groups if they think that it is alright to kill a human being simply because that human hasn't reached a certain stage in his or her life yet. They are promoters of human rights abuse! We cannot let them get away with calling themselves "rights-based".

Next December those "right-based" groups will stand up and proclaim themselves to be the upholders of human rights when they celebrate International Human Rights Day. We cannot let them get away with this. We need to stand up and claim our place as the true human rights groups on Human Rights Day, and on any other occasion when "human rights" is an issue. Ours is a human rights cause. Ours is THE human rights cause. We need to be there! We need to make it clear beyond any doubt that the only true human rights stance is that in support of the lives of all human beings, no matter how young. Until we do this the bloodshed will continue.

"And as I brought out the rib cage, I looked and I saw a tiny, beating heart." -former abortionist Paul E. Jarrett, Jr
